A Nasarawa State High Court has set aside the resolution of the state House of Assembly to remove the former Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Ahmed Tijani from office.
In a judgment which lasted for about two hours at the High Court in Akwanga, Justice Mustapha Ramat ruled that the House of Assembly did not give the former Secretary to the state government Alhaji Ahmed Tijani fair hearing before recommending for his removal.
Justice Mustapha Ramat stated that the House took its decision based on one sided evidence which according to him was in breach of the former SSG’s fundamental rights of fair hearing as enshrined in the nation’s constitution.
Counsel to the plaintiff Mr Shikama Sheltu expressed delight with the judgment and said his client Alhaji Ahmed Tijani had been vindicated.
While counsel to the defendants and Director Public Prosecution, Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice, Mr Isaac Edoh said that his client, the Governor of the state had nothing to do with the judgment as he acted in accordance with the law by removing the former Secretary to the state government from office.
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly had recently indicted Alhaji Ahmed Tijani for allegedly failure to account for over 200 Million Naira out of the over one billion Naira contract for renovation and fencing of public Secondary schools in the state when he was Commissioner for Education.
