Land Fraud: GM Kwara TV Remand in Prison

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Kwara state has arraigned the General Manager of the State owned television station,  Alhaji Abdulfatai Adewale Adebowale.

Adebowale was arraigned before Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on a six count charge bordering on land fraud.

His trouble started when some staff of the Television station wrote a petition to the EFCC,  alleging that the Station’s General Manager sold ten plots of land allocated to Workers by the State Government and converted it to his personal use and alleged that the defendant used his influence to allocate a plot of Land to his daughter who is not working with the organization.

Adebowale however pleaded not guilty when the charges were read.

Prosecuting Counsel, Christopher Mschelia urged the court to remand the defendant pending commencement of trial while praying for a short trial day.

Defence Counsel,  D.B Hasana opposed the the request urging court to remand the defendant in EFCC Custody due to his health conditions pending trial date.

After entertaining submission of counsels,Justice Oyinloye ordered that the defendant be remanded in Oke Kura correctional service and adjourned the matter till Tuesday, Twelfth of this month for hearing of his bail application.
