ex-Pension Reform Boss, Maina Trial Continues Tomorrow

A Federal High Court in Abuja has asked Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to come tomorrow in continuation of the trial of the ex-Pension Reform Boss, Abdulrasheed Maina.

Justice Okon Abang gave the adjournment sequel to EFCC request to use screening shield for its second witness after the first witness Mairo Bashir, completed her evidence.

The EFCC Counsel, Halima Shehu, who applied that the second prosecution witness be screened, said it was necessary for the interest of fair hearing.

She based her application on Section 232(3) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).

However, Justice Abang said it would be wrong to ask learner counsel and other people in the courtroom to go out in order to set up the screening shield.

The EFCC lawyer, therefore, applied for an adjournment to enable the anti-graft agency to prepare for trial continuation.

Counsel to Maina, Mohammed Monguno, and Counsel to his Company, Adeola Adedipe did not oppose the application.

Justice Abang, therefore, instructed EFCC to be in court early to make adequate preparation for the screen while also adjourning the trial of Maina Son, Faisal till tomorrow for continuation.

The anti graft agency had on October 25, charged Maina and his son, Faisal, before the court alongside his firm, Common Input Property and Investment Ltd on allegation of money laundering.

Both the father and the son pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
